  • Sara M Winkler, DO

    Owner & Physician

    Dr. Sara M. Winkler is a board-certified Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine physician, as well as a certified acupuncturist. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003 and completed her residency at McLaren Greater Lansing in 2006.

    In 2015, Dr. Winkler founded Whole Being Therapy, PLC in Okemos, Michigan, with the mission of providing holistic, patient-centered care that integrates conventional medicine with complementary therapies. Her approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body, mind, and spirit, aiming to treat the whole person rather than just symptoms.

    With over two decades of experience, Dr. Winkler has built a reputation for her compassionate care and commitment to empowering patients on their health journeys. She is dedicated to fostering long-term relationships with her patients, guiding them toward optimal well-being through a combination of medical expertise and holistic practices.

  • Anthony J Heidt, DO

    Physician

    Dr. Anthony Heidt graduated from MSU college of Osteopathic medicine in 2014. Upon graduation, he entered active duty as an Army physician, completing his internship at Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Heidt then served as a primary care physician for the troops of the 10th Mountain Division. 

    After leaving active duty service, he completed an MSU residency program, becoming board certified in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine. Currently, he practices in multiple locations, splitting time between Whole Being Therapy and the OMM consult service at University of Michigan Health - Sparrow Hospital. 

    Dr. Heidt has significant experience assisting patients with recovery from traumatic injuries, surgeries, and repetitive injuries from work or overuse. Using a combination of osteopathic manipulation, diet modification, exercise therapy, and prolotherapy injections, Dr. Heidt aims to restore the body's innate healing capacity and structural foundation to provide patients with the ability to reach their rehabilitation goals.

  • Joshua Thompson, DO

    Physician

    Dr. Joshua Thompson earned his medical degree from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2019. He completed his residency in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine at Michigan State University in 2025, where he developed a strong foundation in hands-on diagnosis and treatment using osteopathic manual medicine. He is passionate about the osteopathic philosophy, respecting the interconnectedness of all the body systems, and addressing the various systems to improve health and function.

    Dr. Thompson enjoys treating patients of all ages. In addition to acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain, he is interested in applications of OMM for conditions such as breathing difficulties, digestive issues, headache syndromes, and pregnancy-related discomfort. He also has a special interest in pediatric care, particularly treating newborns with conditions like torticollis and breastfeeding challenges. Along with hands-on treatment, Dr. Thompson utilizes exercise prescription and lifestyle changes to help patients not only recover but thrive long-term.

    Currently, Dr. Thompson practices at both Whole Being Therapy and University of Michigan Health - Sparrow Hospital.

    Office Manager

    Jess serves as the Office Manager, bringing a deep commitment to fostering a welcoming and efficient environment for both patients and staff. She began her journey with the practice in 2022 as an Office Assistant and transitioned to her current position in 2023. Jess is a proud graduate of Michigan State University, where she studied Kinesiology and Spanish. Her academic background and experience in healthcare equips her to effectively support the holistic values at Whole Being Therapy while maintaining a seamless environment.

    Jenn is one of our attentive and compassionate medical assistants. She became a vital member of our staff in the summer of 2024. The efficiency and enthusiasm she brings to her work each and every day is unmatched and reflected in her patient care. With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field, Jenn is passionate about helping others and making a positive impact in her community.

  • Rachael

    Medical Assistant

    Rachael is one of our diligent and caring medical assistants. She joined our staff the summer of 2024 and has become essential due to her innovative solutions. Her experience as a paramedic gives her a unique perspective and set of experiences to utilize and apply to her current position. Rachael founded a free book exchange in the clinic's waiting area, encouraging patients to bring in books they've finished and take home something new to read.
